Unique Redline Job

Tony and Kathy Wallace are the Redline Agents in Mentor Ohio, Northeast of Cleveland.

They sent some pictures of a installation they finished for a couple of different customers and I thought they were great.

Thanks Kathy for the pictures.

Order Schedule is Changing …. A Bit

The Redline Garagegear schedule is changing a little bit.

One of the manufacturing challenges we have with Short Lead Time (3-5 working days) and JIT Manufacturing(Just in Time) is managing the ebb and flow of orders. One week we will buried with orders and the next week could be pretty light. Not to mention many times we will get a barage of orders on the order cutoff day and little or nothing the previous days.

You can imagine at times this becomes difficult to manage. Don’t get me wrong, these are good problems and we are very thankful to have them.

So with that in mind we needed to come up with some way of evening the volume of orders out a little bit, yet still get orders to you quickly. The new schedule is really not much different for weeks where we have an average amount of orders, but heavy weeks may have lead times extended 2-3 days.

Here are the details.

Our manufacturing week is divided into 2 cycles, we typically ship orders on Wednesdays and Fridays. That has not changed. What has changed is how we are queuing the orders for the cycles. Orders that come in early will get priority in the cycle. Orders that come in after the schedule is full may be moved to the next cycle. If your order falls into the next cycle you will be informed as early as possible so you will have time react (typically you will be informed on the cutoff day either Wednesday or Friday).

I hope that is clear, it took me a long time to try to figure out how to explain that.
